Job Description:

SCOPE OF WORK:

Medecins Du Monde MDM is seeking a short-term consultant to provide a basic obstetric ultrasound training using the portable ultrasound machine for medical officers working in the mobile clinics. Improving the obstetric ultrasound skills will enhance the ability to determine gestational age, detect fetal abnormalities and identify fatal growth issues, ultimately contributing to improved antenatal (AN) care. Strengthening AN care will lead to better maternal and fetal health outcomes and reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. contributing to improved antenatal (AN) care. Objectives:

  • To equip medical Staff with foundational ultrasound knowledge and build practical skills in basic obstetric ultrasound.
  • To provide quality health care services for pregnant women, specifically for the reduction in maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality.
  • To conduct ultrasound scanning preferably in the first trimester when LMP is unknown or uterine size is inconsistent with gestational age, in line with the latest WHO guidelines.
  • To enhance the ability of medical staff to identify high-risk obstetric conditions through ultrasound imaging in all trimesters.

Responsibilities:

The consultant/firm will have to work closely with the Medecins du monde MDM focal point (Medical Coordinator) to design and deliver a basic obstetric ultrasound training program for medical staff working in the field. The training is tentatively scheduled in July 2025. Specific tasks include:

  • Develop an ultrasound training course, including content, training materials, agenda.
  • Develop and finalize the training implementation plan in consultation with the MdM focal point.
  • Deliver a 2-weeks structured ultrasound training course for Medical officers, ensuring a balance of theoretical and practical learning.
  • Conduct hands-on ultrasound practical sessions using real-case scenarios with pregnant women.
  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate participants’ knowledge and skills (in the form of multiple-choice questions and practical assessments).
  • Create course evaluation tools to collect participant feedback on training content, delivery, and overall experience.

Key Deliverables:

  • The consultant is expected to develop and submit the obstetric ultrasound training curriculum by the last week of June 2025.
  • The consultant will conduct an in-person training sessions, including practical hands-on with subjects.
  • The consultant must submit a comprehensive and consolidated training report within two weeks of completing the second batch, including key outcomes, participants performance, challenges and recommendations.
  • Design and recommend a post-training mentoring program to support ongoing learning, to provide continued technical guidance, and to ensure quality control of ultrasound practices performed by the trained medical officers.
  • Submit a concise post-training report summarizing the training outcomes, participant performance, key challenges recommendations for future improvement.

Important Note:

  • Two separate quotations will be accepted for two different sessions.
    • One quotation for a centralized 2 weeks training in Peshawar.
    • One quotation for on job training on ultrasonography in district Mardan, lower Dir and Charsadda.
  • The consultant/organization will be responsible for all logistics, including travel, accommodation, meals, and training materials. The quoted fee must be inclusive of all applicable taxes and logistical costs. Both individuals and organizations are eligible to apply.
