Project Description:

The USAID Training for Pakistan project provides turn-key participant training and capacity development services that are uniquely specialized for USAID/Pakistan Mission teams and public and private implementing partners. The primary purpose of this program is to provide participant training and capacity development services to USAID/Pakistan’s contractors, grantees, and partners under Government to Government assistance programs, and at times to the Mission directly. This Mission-wide program will support all USAID sector teams interested in exchanges or training of host-country Pakistani nationals.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Training Manager (ATM) shall be responsible for providing full assistance to the Training Manager (TM) on overall training portfolio, including planning, designing, organizing, preparing and implementation of all training interventions. In addition, the ATM supervises World Learning and LEAD program staff. This position works as a counterpart of the TM and is responsible to design and implement all program activities, and to ensure smooth coordination with various departments within the organization, USAID Mission and concerned DO teams, beneficiaries, service providers and other stakeholders. The appointee requires excellent coordination and planning skills along with a detail-oriented focus and ability to coordinate with the training participants effectively.

Key responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

  • Assist the TM in all day-to-day program activities.
  • Supervise World Learning and LEAD staff.
  • Mentor and train program staff on participant training and provide support as required to ensure smooth implementation of program activities.
  • Coordinate and liaison with USAID DO teams on all matters pertaining to program activities.
  • Prepare a detailed work plan to complete the Training Program Tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensure timely implementation of all the activities related to short term training program, organize and facilitate project meetings/consultations and continuous follow-up with selected participants and maintain strong liaison with Program team.
  • Maintain individual data files for Training Program Participants.
  • Ensure entry of participant’s information into TraiNet (and be able to enter it independently) and ensure the timely submission of exchange program data in TraiNet and VCS system.
  • Supervise preparation of complete following documents required for the students/teachers exchange Program.
  • Ensure timely visa applications for the participants and submission of the documents to the Visa Counselor of the US Embassy and other embassies as required.
  • Ensure facilitation in arranging visa interviews for the participants, facilitate in arranging Pre-departure Orientations and debriefs
  • Prepare hard and soft copies of all the relevant documents.
  • Ensure and supervise proper filling of all the relevant documents for the exchange program (soft and hard copies)
  • Liaise with the identified training providers
  • Supervise a team of 8 members to implement in-country, third-country and US trainings
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Reporting:

This position is based at the Training for Pakistan Project office Islamabad. The Assistant Training Manager reports to the Training Manager. An extremely, bright, sharp and a quick learner is needed for this position, who is willing to take on challenging work and perform under tight deadlines with efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • A master degree in social sciences or public administration with strong English writing and speaking skills; technical IT knowledge will be an added advantage
  • Five years of over-all practical experience in development sector with 1-2 years of experience in working with USAID funded training programs, preferably in a management capacity of trainings;
  • Experience of working with TraiNet and familiarity with ADS 253 & 252 Manuals;
  • Strong technical & practical knowledge of MS Office, interpersonal & coordination skills;
  • Exposure to the web based development environments would be an asset;
  • Good written & oral communications, team work and prior knowledge of USAID
  • reporting processes;
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to peace, tolerance and development; and
  • Team player, able to work respectfully and cooperatively with colleagues or different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Someone who can pay great attention to detail
